Frequently asked questions

  • A licensed therapist is trained in helping you approach your situation in a new way, teach you new skills, help you gain different perspectives, listen to you without passing judgment, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, therapy is completely confidential, a safe space, so you won’t have to worry about others knowing your business or looking at you differently.

Additionally, if your situation invokes or triggers a great deal of emotion; a professional can help you process that. Instead of stopping you prematurely because things feel or get uncomfortable or awkward.

If you’ve been confiding in a friend or a family member, it’s good to have them as a “support system,” but remember, a therapist will give you cognitive and emotional skills that will benefit you for the rest of your life. There is a certain level of vulnerability that you can have with a therapist that you cannot have with friends or family, because it could change the dynamics of your relationship.

  • Let me just tell you what I am NOT:

I am not your traditional by-the-book therapist. I follow the rules that I’m supposed to legally and ethically, but that’s it. Not trying to sound like a “professional tough guy,” just letting you know that I don’t place myself inside of a box or limit myself from what I can accomplish, so you can expect that I won’t limit us.

I am not someone who’s trying to “get a bag off you” (simply, get paid). I aspire to change lives for real with crucial conversation and mind work, but it’s not free. I’m very passionate about what I do, but passion alone won’t feed my children.

I am not a know-it-all, but I really believe that together we know-it-all or at least we can figure it out. Too many people claim to have all the answers, my goal is to help you find the answers.

I am not someone who can “fix” you or your situation. I am a mind worker—I ask questions, provide perspective, challenge concepts and traditions, and above all else, inspire critical thinking skills. Which will help you fix things or at least learn better and healthier ways to cope.

Lastly, I am not perfect. I am human. I make mistakes, I learn from them, and I keep it moving.
